Representative Annello was born and raised in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area to Italian American parents. She was fortunate to receive a scholarship to attend Austin Preparatory High School, which helped guide her passion for public service. After high school, Rep. Annello was accepted to The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, she had to pause her college education after the loss of her father.
Now serving as Mayor Pro Tempore, Alexsandra Annello has been a member of the El Paso City Council since 2017. After graduating from the University of El Paso with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Communication, she worked with artists primarily focusing on border and immigration issues, which inspired her to run for local office.
Since being elected, Alex has shown a deep commitment to bringing community voices into the decision-making processes to fight for corporate accountability, workers' rights, immigrant justice, infrastructure, and much more.
Rio Grande Council of Governments Rep. Annello serves on the Board of Directors for the Rio Grande Council of Governments (COG) Board. She has the fiduciary responsibility of overseeing the allocation of dollars for senior citizens in need, public safety, emergency response, and environmental resources.
Emergence Health Network Rep. Annello serves on the Emergence Health Network (EHN) Board of Trustees. In this role, Rep. Annello has the responsibility of setting the priorities of our local mental health authority.
Local ProgressRep. Annello services on the Local Progress Board of Directors. Local Progress is an organization mostly comprised of local elected officials advancing a racial and economic justice agenda through all levels of local government. The Board of Directors guides the strategic direction of the network.
Financial Oversight and Audit CommitteeProvides legislative oversight of the function of the Internal Auditor; reviews other financial policies of the City and formulates recommendations for the City Council regarding City finances and other matters.
