Neighborhood & School Crosswalks

  1. How do I get a faded crosswalk in my neighborhood repainted?
    If you see a faded crosswalk, make a service request online or call us at 3-1-1. Once a report is made, our crews will determine if the crosswalk needs to be repainted or cleaned.
  2. How do I request a crosswalk in my neighborhood?
    If you would like a crosswalk in your neighborhood, you may file a request online or call us at 3-1-1. The Streets and Maintenance Department will review your request and take the appropriate measures to determine if a crosswalk is warranted.
  3. How do I request a school zone crosswalk?
    Residents wanting a new school zone crosswalk must file a request with the school principal. If approved by the school, the principal will send a request to Streets and Maintenance.
  4. How long does it take for a school zone crosswalk to be installed in my neighborhood once a request is made?
    Once a school official requests a school zone crosswalk, our department will evaluate the request and study the area to see if a new school zone crosswalk is needed. The process can take up to 30 days.

 

Median Cleanup and Landscaping

  1. How do I report problems with street medians?
    If you see a damaged median or the landscaping needs repair or maintenance, you may file a service request online or by calling us at 3-1-1.

 

School Zone Flasher Signals

  1. How can I report a school zone flasher signal that is damaged or not working properly?
    If you spot a school zone flasher signal that is damaged or not working properly, you may report it online or by calling us at 3-1-1.
  2. How can I request a school zone flasher signal in my neighborhood?
    Residents wanting new school zone flasher signals must file a request with the principal of the school in their neighborhood. School zone flasher signals are funded 100 percent by school districts. The school will then send a request to the Streets and Maintenance Department.

 

Sidewalks

  1. How do I report a tree, shrub, or other object that is blocking a traffic signal or street sign?
    Reports of tree limbs or shrubs blocking a traffic signal or street sign may be made online or by calling us at 3-1-1.
  2. How long does it take for vegetation or other objects to obstruct a traffic signal or sign once the problem is reported?
    Service requests related to obstructions of traffic signals and signs are a priority for the Streets and Maintenance Department and are handled as soon as possible after a report is made.

    Reports of tree limbs or shrubs blocking a sidewalk should be reported by calling 3-1-1.

 

Street Lights

  1. How do I report a city street light that is not working?
    City street lights that illuminate neighborhoods that are not working or damaged may be reported to the El Paso Electric Company at (915) 543-5970. Request for repairs may also be made online through our department or by calling us at 3-1-1.
  2. How do I get a city street light installed in my neighborhood?
    Requests for a new city street light must be filed with the Streets and Maintenance Department online or by dialing 3-1-1.
  3. How long does it take for a new city street light to get installed in my neighborhood once a request is made?
    The time frame for each request is different since new street lights are installed based on available funding and support from residents who live near the proposed site for the street light.

  1. How do I report a missing, damaged, or vandalized street name sign?
    Missing, damaged, or vandalized street name signs may be reported online to our department or by calling us at 3-1-1. You may remain anonymous when filing a report.
  2. How long does it take to repair a traffic sign once the problem is reported?
    Service requests related to missing or damaged traffic signs are as promptly as possible.

 

Street Resurfacing

  1. When will my street going be resurfaced?

    If you spot a pothole, cracks, or other damage on any city street surface, you may report it online or by calling us at 3-1-1.

 

Traffic Circles, Speed Humps & other Traffic Calming Devices

  1. What is traffic calming?
    Traffic calming is a way to design neighborhood streets, using physical measures, to encourage people to drive at or below the street limit. Speed humps, mini-circles, and curb extensions are examples of traffic calming devices.
  2. How can I get a speed hump, traffic circle, or other traffic calming device installed in my neighborhood?

    If you see a problem with a traffic or pedestrian signal, you may report it to El Paso Police by dialing 9-1-1 or online through our request a service site.
